Venous Ulcer Care

Dermatitis stasis of the legA venous skin ulcer is a shallow wound on the lower third of the leg that develops when the leg veins have problems moving blood back toward the heart. The surrounding skin is often discolored. The lower leg tends to swell as the day progresses, but the swelling goes down in bed overnight. The wound may be slow to heal without the use of compression bandages or support stockings.

Our affiliate, the Vein Institute of the Midwest, specializes in state-of-the-art technologies and techniques for the minimally invasive treatment of venous stasis ulcers, varicose veins and spider veins. The techniques are performed in an outpatient setting using local anesthesia and minimal sedation.
